Today cell phones have become like hand held computers capable of so much more than simply making phone calls. From playing games to watching movies, from surfing the internet to working a modern day smart phone really can do it all. Sadly however even the smartest of smartphones can have it's issues and some of those issues require a user to reset the phone back to it's "factory settings", to do this a user needs to "factory reset" the handset.

Although factory resetting can seem like a complicated procedure it's actually really simple and this guide will show you how to factory reset a Samsung Galaxy S2 (which is also known as the Samsung 'EPIC 4G Touch) in simple and easy to follow steps.

Firstly you will need to open up the settings screen, to do this you need to press "menu" and then click on "settings" in the bottom right corner of the screen. From the settings screen you will need to scroll down to the "privacy" option. The "privacy" option screen should have 3 options including "Factory data reset", this is the option you need to select at this point.

After selecting "factory data reset" you will see a screen like the screenshot to the right. From here you have 2 options, you can delete the phone data which includes things like your google account, applications and your settings and you can ALSO delete the information stored on the USB storage-this includes things like music, videos and pictures. If you wish to just delete the phone data leave the check box unticked and select "Reset phone", if you wish to also delete the USB storage tick the box and then select "reset phone".

After selecting "reset phone" it will go through a series of procedures then restart with the settings set as they were before you started to use it. This is useful if you wish to pass the phone on to a friend or relative or just want to feel as if your phone is "new" despite it having been used.
